Living in Lomas de Chapultepec

Renting a house in Mexico City usually means waiting for the rare listing to appear; in Lomas de Chapultepec it is a genuine search. Few colonias have this many houses for rent published at any given time, and they carry the neighborhood's signature: stately (señorial) architecture, deep gardens with mature trees, and streets named after mountain ranges that curve with the terrain. Expect to pay well above an apartment, with rents at the very top of the city. The closest comparable searches are Bosque de las Lomas, just west within Miguel Hidalgo, and Lomas de Virreyes, right next door.

What to consider before renting

The deep gardens and mature trees that define these houses take constant gardening: ask early whether that upkeep falls on the tenant or the owner, because it varies house by house. On Palmas, Reforma and some corner lots, houses operate as offices, so confirm the one you visit is actually offered for residential use. If nothing here fits, Lomas de Reforma, on the southwest side of the hills, and Polanco across Periférico also publish houses for rent, though far fewer than here.
