Living in Coyoacán

Coyoacán's house character shows up most clearly away from the apartment corridors: the colonial streets of Barrio Santa Catarina and Romero de Terreros near the historic core, the pedregal fraccionamiento of Jardines del Pedregal de San Ángel to the west, and the tree-lined Campestre Churubusco, built around the México Country Club to the northwest, both known for garden lots and quiet streets. Toward the Tasqueña side, Paseos de Taxqueña adds a calmer, house-oriented pocket close to the transit hub. For renters set on a house with real outdoor space, Tlalpan just south stretches that same pedregal character toward the Ajusco with a wider selection to rent.

What to consider before renting

Houses in the historic core tend to be older colonial builds, which can mean narrower street parking and heritage-style renovation limits, while the pedregal fraccionamientos favor closed streets and private gardens built more recently. None of these pockets sit far from Metro Line 3, but a car still helps day to day, since the wide lots in Jardines del Pedregal de San Ángel spread out further from the nearest station than the apartment corridors do.
