Living in Los Alpes

Los Alpes sits on the eastern edge of Álvaro Obregón, split from Guadalupe Inn by Avenida Revolución. Its biggest advantage is transit: the west exit of Metro Barranca del Muerto, the southern terminus of Line 7, opens right onto Avenida Revolución inside Los Alpes, and the Metrobús Line 1 stop José María Velasco is a short walk east on Avenida Insurgentes Sur. Errands cluster on that same avenue, where the Portal San Ángel mall beside the station covers groceries, a Cinépolis, and casual chains like Chili's and P.F. Chang's. Turn off Revolución and the blocks go quiet fast, rows of two- and three-story houses next to newer apartment buildings, which make up most of what's for rent in Los Alpes.

What to consider before renting

The corner around the Barranca del Muerto CETRAM is the noisiest spot in the colonia, with dozens of bus routes converging there; a block or two inward, the residential streets are calm. On price, renting in Los Alpes runs above Guadalupe Inn, right across Revolución, and below San José Insurgentes, across Barranca del Muerto in Benito Juárez, so both are worth a look if budget is the deciding factor.
