Living in Nápoles

Renting an apartment in Nápoles puts the Insurgentes corridor, the World Trade Center and Condesa a few minutes away, at rents below what those areas ask. Apartments are what the neighborhood mostly offers for rent, and a good share of them come furnished, which suits people arriving in the city for work. Recent residential towers stand alongside the Californian-style houses of the 1930s and 40s, and Alameda Nápoles and the streets named after US states — Pennsylvania, Dakota, Alabama — keep a neighborhood feel a few blocks from the offices.

What to consider before renting

There is no Metro station in Nápoles: Metrobús Line 1, with the Poliforum and Nápoles stops on Insurgentes, carries most commutes, so how close the apartment sits to the avenue matters day to day. Parking deserves separate attention: street spots are metered (parquímetros) on weekdays and vanish when the World Trade Center has an expo or the Pepsi Center a concert, so an apartment without its own space is more of a handicap here than in other neighborhoods; ask as well how the building handles guest access and parking on those days. And since a good share of what gets listed comes furnished, confirm what the furniture covers and whether it changes the length of the lease. To widen the search without leaving the area, apartments in Del Valle are just across Insurgentes, apartments in Escandón sit north of the Viaducto, and apartments in Condesa a few minutes beyond, at higher prices.
