Living in Lomas de Chapultepec
Apartment living in Lomas de Chapultepec happens mostly along its two spines: Paseo de las Palmas, lined with offices, banks and restaurants, and the Reforma corridor that enters the colonia at the Fuente de Petróleos. Much of that apartment life sits in the first section, the colonia's original tract and the closest to Reforma. With embassies and corporate headquarters as neighbors, a good share of apartments are listed furnished, which is far from a given elsewhere in the city. Rents rank among the highest anywhere in the capital, in the same range as Polanco, just across Periférico.
What to consider before renting
Everything here assumes a car, since the colonia has no Metro station: before anything else, check how many parking spaces come with the unit. Apartments facing Palmas or Reforma trade traffic noise for being steps from offices and restaurants; buildings on the residential streets behind them are quieter but come up less often. If the rents stretch your budget, Lomas de Bezares, further west off Palmas, and Bosques de las Lomas, across the barranca in Cuajimalpa, offer apartment living in the same hills, usually for less.
