For houses, Lomas de Chapultepec is the top of the city: prices in the same league as Polanco and above Bosques de las Lomas in Cuajimalpa, and a volume of houses for sale that almost no other colonia approaches. The classic purchase is a stately (señorial) house from the neighborhood's garden-suburb origins, set on a deep lot behind trees, on avenues like Paseo de las Palmas or the quiet streets between it and Reforma. The Fuente de Petróleos marks the gateway from Periférico, and the second and third sections of Bosque de Chapultepec run along the colonia's edge.

What to consider before buying

Decide first whether you are buying the house or the land: many señorial houses here are listed explicitly to be remodeled or even demolished and rebuilt, and that changes what an inspection should focus on and what the price is really paying for. Confirm the permitted land use (uso de suelo) on avenue-facing lots, where entire houses operate as offices.
