Living in Cuajimalpa

Cuajimalpa is San Pedro Cuajimalpa, the pueblo at the historic center of the borough, built around a plaza that still runs the day: the Parroquia de San Pedro Apóstol on one side, the Mercado Cuajimalpa a block over on Avenida Veracruz. Errands like produce, breakfast or a hardware run happen on foot before noon, and the street empties out once it closes. Neither the Metro nor the Metrobús reaches the pueblo, so most other trips mean a car or combi along Avenida Veracruz or the regional Carretera México-Toluca. Renters after more room and trees than a plaza can offer should look at houses for rent in Contadero, just north.

What to consider before renting

Rentals here sit mostly in the pueblo's older two- and three-story buildings rather than in new towers, and prices run below what a similar unit costs in Contadero, the wooded colonia just north. That gap makes Cuajimalpa the more affordable way into the same hills, though it also means fewer elevators and less covered parking than newer buildings offer. Anyone whose daily commute runs toward the Santa Fe office corridor instead of the pueblo center should compare apartments for rent in El Yaqui, which sits closer to that route.
