Buying in Chihuahua
Chihuahua is the city where El Chepe begins, the train that climbs into the Sierra Tarahumara, a point of civic identity, the thing chihuahuenses point to when they talk about their city. The historic center still holds the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government Palace, and Quinta Gameros, a 1907 Art Nouveau mansion turned museum, all within walking distance of each other downtown. To the west are gated developments such as Bosque Real and Bosques del Valle, offering a different residential experience than the older streets near downtown.
What to consider before buying
The west-side corridor includes developments from different building phases, so it's worth checking each property's construction year, finishes, and specific condition. Downtown ownership is a different trade: older construction around Zona Centro means checking the building's age and condition rather than assuming everything is move-in ready. Neither option is right or wrong: it comes down to whether walking to the cathedral and the historic core matters more day to day than moving into a more recently built home.
