Buying in Bahía de Banderas

Buying in Bahía de Banderas means choosing between areas that grew out of very different logics. Nuevo Vallarta, officially renamed Nuevo Nayarit in 2022 although both names remain in use, began as a planned tourism development with broad roads and larger-scale sections. Cruz de Huanacaxtle, by contrast, retains the foundations of a coastal town that predates that tourism growth and later incorporated Marina Riviera Nayarit. The difference shows in how homes, streets, shops, and the waterfront come together in each area.

What to consider before buying

The origin of each area is still visible in its layout. Nuevo Vallarta was conceived as an integrated development, so its streets, residential sections, and larger parcels follow a different planning logic from a town that expanded gradually. In La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, the marina was added to a center that already had streets, homes, and local activity. That urban history produces practical differences in distances, road scale, and access to services, even though both areas have a direct relationship with the coast.
