Living in San Rafael

San Rafael sits just west of Paseo de la Reforma, in a stretch of Mexico City known for cafes, small art galleries and early twentieth century buildings rather than nightlife. Most days you can walk to bakeries, corner taquerías and a gallery or two without crossing a major avenue. The Metro San Cosme (Line 2) has an exit right on the neighborhood's northern edge, at Ribera de San Cosme and Rosas Moreno, and Metrobús Line 1 runs along Av. Insurgentes on the east side, so getting around without a car is realistic if you're renting in San Rafael.

What to consider before renting

How noisy your block feels depends on which edge you're on: streets near Av. Insurgentes or Circuito Interior carry steady traffic, while interior streets like Sadi Carnot stay quiet even on weekends. If you don't own a car, staying within a few blocks of the San Cosme exit on Rosas Moreno keeps your commute simple. For something a bit more central and corporate feeling, at a step up in price, apartments for rent in Tabacalera, just south across Sullivan, are worth a look.
