Living in Querétaro
Centro, the colonial core that earned Querétaro its UNESCO recognition, stays dense with restored eighteenth-century buildings, where rentals turn up too, not just homes for sale. Renting concentrates instead in the growth corridor northwest of downtown: Juriquilla and Juriquilla Santa Fe, built up around the UNAM research campus and nearby industrial parks, have the deepest options, with furnished units common for one- and two-year postings. Centro Sur and Milenio III, closer to downtown, offer a shorter commute without the university-town feel.
What to consider before renting
Water pressure can run inconsistent in some of the newer developments in the city, so it's worth asking directly how a building handles supply before signing. Traffic matters too: Boulevard Bernardo Quintana gets busy at rush hour between the university corridor and downtown. For more space than an apartment gives, that same corridor has gated houses to match, like houses for rent in Cumbres del Lago and houses for rent in Altozano.
