Buying in San Luis Potosí
Buying in San Luis Potosí also means choosing between areas that belong to different chapters of the city's history. It all starts with Centro, founded in 1592, around which the city absorbed nearby villages over time: Tequisquiapan is one of them, and it still keeps the plaza and street layout from its origins, even though it's now part of the continuous city. Further west, areas like Desarrollo del Pedregal and Villa Magna belong to a different chapter: they were built from the start as planned developments, with streets and access roads laid out from day one.
What to consider before buying
How old a sector is also changes the real distance to downtown and to the city's established services, beyond what a map shows: living in a west-side development can mean longer trips to offices, schools, or businesses that have been around for decades. In newer developments, it's also worth checking how built out the surrounding infrastructure is, such as paving, sidewalks, and street lighting, since that varies depending on when each area was developed.
