Buying in Playas de Rosarito

Buying here means choosing a stretch of coast, because the municipality runs some fifty kilometers from the Tijuana line south toward Ensenada. Rosarito Centro is the walkable end of it, with the beach, the shops and the restaurants in the same few blocks. About six kilometers south, Popotla is a working fishing village with seafood stalls, and Baja Studios sits next to it. Further down, Las Gaviotas is guarded and quiet behind its own gates. Houses along this coast ask more than their equivalents in Tijuana, and the difference is mostly the water.

What to consider before buying

The far south is a different decision from the town. Plaza del Mar is close to thirty kilometers down the coast, right at the municipal boundary, with El Descanso between it and Centro. Everything down there depends on the car, and the drive to the border grows with it. At the other end of the choice, Punta Azul sits a couple of kilometers south of Centro and just inland, off the through traffic but within reach of the beach strip. For houses at more accessible prices, Ensenada is where to look.
