Living in Tlalpan

Tlalpan is one of the largest boroughs in southern Mexico City, running from the lava-rock pedregal near Periférico Sur down to the pine forests around the Ajusco volcano, so renting here starts with choosing a zone. Along the northern edge, gated communities such as Fuentes del Pedregal and Jardines en la Montaña sit close to Periférico Sur and Perisur, mixing towers and houses behind guarded gates. Toward the southeast, the colonial core of Tlalpan Centro and the hospital district of Toriello Guerra rent at a calmer, more walkable pace. Renters who want more Metro connections often look just north, toward Coyoacán, where Línea 2 begins at Tasqueña.

What to consider before renting

Further south, Jardines del Ajusco and the closed, tree-lined streets of Tlalpuente trade proximity for cooler air near the Bosque de Tlalpan, while rents ease further as you approach the pueblo of San Andrés Totoltepec. Wherever you land, plan around a car: outside the Tasqueña edge and the Tren Ligero line along the eastern border, Tlalpan runs on Periférico Sur, Calzada de Tlalpan and the Carretera Picacho-Ajusco rather than the subway.
