Buying in Paseo de la Reforma

Buying on Reforma means buying an apartment up in the air. In Juárez towers keep going up between porfirian houses and art déco buildings, and it is the part of the corridor where most of the building happens. Cuauhtémoc, on the streets named after rivers, is the residential stretch: established buildings, embassies and large houses taken over by firms, priced on a par with Juárez. Tabacalera, around the Monumento a la Revolución, is the most affordable way into the corridor.

What to consider before buying

You are buying into a mixed-use building here: apartments, offices and shops can share one address, which sets the rhythm of the lift and the garage on weekdays. The real choice is between Juárez, where much of what sells is still under construction, and Cuauhtémoc, with finished buildings and quieter streets, since the two are priced alike. Tabacalera is the most affordable of the three. For a house with a garden on a closed street, houses for sale in Polanco are on the far side of the park.
