Living in San Pedro Garza García

San Pedro Garza García is its own municipality on the south-western side of the Monterrey metro area, wedged between the Loma Larga ridge and the Sierra Madre Oriental, and it is the wealthiest place to live in Mexico. Renting here usually means one of the apartment towers on the eastern side, around Zona Valle Oriente and Del Valle Oriente, the financial district of northern Mexico, or the older tree-lined blocks of Del Valle in the middle of the municipality, where the gardened Calzada del Valle is one of the few genuinely walkable stretches in the whole metro area.

What to consider before renting

There is no Metro station in San Pedro, and Monterrey's new lines will not add one, since they run through other municipalities. What does exist is a free municipal bus network and feeder buses to Metro Line 2 in Monterrey, though most people still drive. Only three roads link San Pedro to Monterrey: Gómez Morín to Gonzalitos, the Loma Larga tunnel, and Lázaro Cárdenas, and the Vasconcelos junction that feeds them is the bottleneck everyone complains about. For lower rents against the same sierra, Santa Catarina is next door to the west.
