Living in Lomas de Chapultepec VIII Sección

The VIII Sección is the far western reach of Lomas de Chapultepec: the blocks where streets named after mountain ranges, Sierra Vertientes, Sierra Gorda, Sierra Aconcagua, branch off the upper stretch of Paseo de las Palmas and drop toward the wooded ravines (barrancas) that separate the colonia from Bosque de las Lomas. This is the quietest end of the colonia, a long way from the office towers at the Paseo de la Reforma entrance, and what comes up for rent here is almost always an apartment, with houses a rare exception: the section's apartments for rent cover nearly everything on the rental side.

What to consider before renting

Public transport at this end comes down to the buses on Paseo de las Palmas (there is no Metro station anywhere in the colonia), so daily life assumes a car. The streets climb and dip toward the barrancas, and several dead-end against them, which makes walking routes longer than the map suggests.
