Living in Naucalpan

Naucalpan reads as three or four places stitched together. Along the Mexico City line, Avenida de los Bosques and Avenida Río Hondo run through Lomas de Tecamachalco, wooded and quiet, and the same hillside continues into Huixquilucan with newer buildings on the far side. North of the Periférico the ground flattens into Ciudad Satélite, the low-rise grid Mario Pani's office planned in the 1950s, with the Torres de Satélite standing beside the highway. West, the streets climb toward Lomas Verdes. Cuatro Caminos, the western terminal of Metro Line 2, sits inside Naucalpan rather than across the state border.

What to consider before renting

This is Estado de México, so plates, tenencia and the twice-yearly verificación follow state rules, and Hoy No Circula applies here exactly as it does in the capital: leaving Mexico City buys you no extra driving day. Water is the other question worth asking. The high western zones are fed from the Cutzamala system through the Bellavista and Lomas Verdes tanks, so ask which line reaches the building and whether it has a cistern of its own. For flat streets and a quick run onto the Periférico, Lomas Hipódromo wraps around the Club de Golf Chapultepec.
