Living in Querétaro
Renting a house here usually means renting inside a gated development: Altozano and Juriquilla carry the most listings, both built around walled sections with their own entrance and guard. Juriquilla also sits close to Antea, the city's largest shopping center, and is one of the areas with the highest concentration of private schools in the city. Cumbres del Lago is a step down in size and rent, still gated but with smaller lots, and works well for families who want the same security without the larger house.
What to consider before renting
The HOA fee for the gated section usually rides on top of the rent, not folded into it, so ask for that number separately before comparing houses across colonias. Furnished houses are the exception across this corridor, so don't assume a listing includes appliances or furniture without asking directly. Getting added to the gate's resident and vehicle list can take a few days after signing, so build that into your move-in timeline.
