Buying in San Rafael

Apartments are the biggest part of what's for sale in San Rafael, spread across converted Porfirian buildings, Art Deco blocks from the 1930s and newer mid-rises. The area draws buyers who want walkable streets and a cultural scene (the Museo Experimental El Eco and a growing run of galleries and cafes), within a part of Cuauhtémoc that isn't the most expensive. If a lower price matters more than staying within a five to ten minute walk of the San Cosme metro exit, apartments for sale in Santa María la Ribera, a few blocks further from the station, cost less for a similar footprint.

What to consider before buying

Apartments for sale in San Rafael price above Santa María la Ribera, so weigh the art deco setting and the walk to the San Cosme metro exit against what a lower price buys a few blocks away. If you want more restaurants and bars within walking distance and don't mind paying more, apartments for sale in colonia Cuauhtémoc, across Av. Insurgentes toward Reforma, has more restaurants and bars packed into it than San Rafael does on its own.
