Bacalar is a town in Quintana Roo, located in the south of its territory about 40 km north of the capital, Chetumal.

Bacalar is situated on the banks of the Bacalar Lagoon, the most important of the lagoons in southern Quintana Roo and a major tourist attraction.

The Bacalar Lagoon is the main attraction of the area, famous for its seven shades of blue. This is a perfect place to relax, swim, kayak, or simply enjoy the scenery from one of the many resorts that line the lagoon.
