Coapa sells mostly houses and apartments that came out of the haciendas that once shaped the zone, with Granjas Coapa and Ex-Hacienda Coapa among the largest concentrations, and Prado Coapa 3A Sección one of a handful of colonias with the deepest house listings specifically. Santa Úrsula Coapa, on the Coyoacán side, and Villa Coapa round out the search. Construction spans from early-twentieth-century subdivisions of the original haciendas to 1960s and '70s developments like Villa Coapa's Unidad Habitacional, plus current construction, and the zone has several shopping centers, among them Paseo Acoxpa, Gran Terraza Coapa and Galerías Coapa.

What to consider before buying

The zone sits on the border between the Tlalpan and Coyoacán boroughs, so confirm which side a property falls on: paperwork, property tax and permits go through different borough offices, even a few blocks apart. Construction varies a lot since the zone grew out of subdivided haciendas across most of the twentieth century, so confirm the year and any structural review directly. There's no Metro line within walking distance, but several bus routes connect to UAM Xochimilco and the rest of the city. Overall, it's a quiet, tree-lined zone, with parks like Alameda del Sur.
