Coapa is a historic zone in the far south of the city; its name is Nahuatl for "place of snakes," shaped over the last century as a handful of old haciendas were subdivided into today's grid of colonias, among them Granjas Coapa, Ex-Hacienda Coapa and Santa Úrsula Coapa. Paseo Acoxpa and Gran Terraza Coapa are among the best-known shopping centers, alongside several others like Galerías Coapa. The zone has considerably more for sale than for rent.

What to consider before renting

What's available for rent tends to be limited, since most owners here look to sell rather than lease, so it's worth widening the search across colonias like Granjas Coapa, Villa Coapa and Prado Coapa 3A Sección rather than fixing on just one. Response time matters too: with so few units active at once, a listing that fits can go quickly, so have your documents ready before you start touring. For more options nearby, both Coyoacán and Tlalpan are worth checking.
