Living in Paseo de la Reforma

Life here happens in an apartment, and in the newer buildings the gym, the roof terrace and the work areas are downstairs, so much of the week gets resolved without going out. Furnished units are common, since many are rented for one- and two-year work postings. In Tabacalera you rent around the Monumento a la Revolución; Cuauhtémoc, the quietest part of the corridor and the one with the highest rents, sits between the avenue and the streets named after rivers.

What to consider before renting

Ask which street the apartment faces: anything over Reforma carries the traffic, and the Sunday closures when the avenue fills with cyclists and runners. The Zona Rosa, inside Juárez, has nightlife on weeknights, so there the block counts for more than the building. One- and two-bedroom layouts are the norm along the corridor, and the roomiest are in Cuauhtémoc. If you need three bedrooms, Roma Norte lies just south, across Av. Chapultepec, and gives you plenty to choose from.
