Living in Monterrey

Apartment living in Monterrey gathers on a few corridors. The densest is downtown: Centro and Monterrey Centro leave the Macroplaza, the Alameda Mariano Escobedo and the Línea 2 stations of the primer cuadro, the original downtown grid, within walking distance, with the Paseo Santa Lucía offering a walk east to Parque Fundidora. Southeast of there, Ladrillera has been rebuilt around the Nuevo Sur complex on Av. Revolución. Southeast of downtown and across the Río Santa Catarina, Roma keeps low-rise blocks on the Av. Eugenio Garza Sada corridor, with Av. Chapultepec on its other side and Colonia Obrera as its nearest Línea 1 stop.

What to consider before renting

Downtown puts a Línea 2 platform within a few blocks; the corridors on the western hillside put a car in the driveway instead. San Jerónimo rises below Loma Larga along Calzada San Jerónimo and Blvd. Rogelio Cantú Gómez, with newer towers on the boulevards and no station of its own. West of downtown, Obispado has gone vertical on and around Calle Hidalgo, close enough to walk down into the grid. In the south, Del Paseo Residencial sits a few blocks off Av. Lázaro Cárdenas, with Av. Fundadores as the quick way out. East of the city, Guadalupe rents for less, with the Parque Río La Silla following the river through it.
